Despite No End in Sight, Sheriff Sales Given Green Light
Despite the fact that both lawyers and non-lawyers have zero access to all E-Filing, Public Court Records and Civil Dockets in Philadelphia due to the recent malware attack, Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Arnold New denied a blanket request to have all June Sheriff Sales, both Real Estate Tax and Mortgage Foreclosure alike, temporarily halted.
With no access to the Civil Dockets, a property owner cannot adequately discover if their property is actually going to go to Sale, and even worse, they cannot electronically file a Motion to Postpone or Stay a Sheriff Sale; their only option if they are sure their property is going to be subject to auction is to deal with the long lines at the Prothonotary in City Hall and file a pro-se Motion, then find out which agency they must serve with notices of the hearing, and then try their mercy before the Court.
If you fear your property is up for Sheriff Sale while the City’s IT Department still deals with fixing the E-filing fiasco, please contact the Law Offices of Christopher W. Dean to learn about how to stop the sale and save your home!
